Undeveloped end of Bevan Bend penninsula on private land. See plots MORG.17,18,19,20 for more context.;Second growth floodplain forest with larger trees. A light use ATV track crosses stand. Some bare soil areas indicate ponding, but stand is dry now. This is one of the larger, more intact stands of rich floodplain forest that I have seen in WV, although it is smaller than many stands in CHOH on the more protected Maryland side. Flotsome on upstream side of trees indicate that large floods flow across this bench.
Representativeness
Plot was placed to minimize tulip poplar within large stand of rich floodplain forest. Mappedby CHOH as CEGL4073 which appears accurate.
